Shabbat Alert Tech Setup

Last Friday afternoon, I set my laptop to keep us informed in the event of an Iranian missile attack (which indeed did happen, repeatedly) and everything worked spectacularly.

As we approach another Shabbat with potential alerts, here are the details of my mamad tech setup:

• Chrome window on Pikud HaOref’s alert page
• Tab Auto Refresh extension, set to refresh every 90 seconds (Pikud HaOref does auto-refresh, but this is a viable backup in case it gets stuck)
• Dark Reader extension, to have Pikud HaOref appear in dark mode
• Caffeine app, to prevent the Windows session from locking the screen
• “Gal Shaket” (quiet broadcast stream) from Reshet Moreshet, playing in Foobar2000 music player

Make sure to set the volume while there are still regular broadcasts on Friday.
